gamma 472. Ardys (ruled c. 652-c. 615), son of Gyges, was the second king of the Mermnad dynasty. He captured
Priene, waged war on Miletus. In the seventh year of his reign), the Cimmerians captured
Sardis with the exception of its acropolis (
Herodotus 1.14-15). According to Assyrian sources, like his father Gyges, he sought the alliance of the Assyrians against the Cimmerian threat.
