This surely refers to Alalkomenai in Boeotia (Barington Atlas map 55 grid E4; no.199 in Hansen & Nielsen, Inventory of Archaic and Classical Poleis), which Strabo 9.2.36 calls a small polis situated in a plain, though Pausanias 9.33.5 classified it as a mere 'village'. There was also, however, an Al(al)komenai on the island of Ithaka (Barrington Atlas map 54 grid C5), and an Alkomena in Pelagonia (map 49 grid D2).
