Epic forms are a)ph/mbrote (Aeolic) and a)fa/marten (Ionic, without augment). (The form given here is anomalous, since it shows Aeolic initial psilosis with an Ionic treatment of the original vocalic r; it is attested only here.) Adler draws attention to Hesychius' entry on a)ph/mbrote (quoted, according to Latte ad loc., from Homer, Iliad 15.521), likewise glossed with a)pe/tuxen.
