The orators apply [this] to what is sensible and just.[1] Demosthenes [writes]: "for on account of this especially it is proper to be silent, when there is neither someone bullying, nor someone who is going to punish you".[2] They assign [the word] axion also to purchases, whenever something is sold at a good price.[3] Lysias in the [oration] Against the Corn-dealers [writes]: "they will say that they buy the corn out of good-will towards the city, so that they can sell it to you as cheaply as possible."[4] And elsewhere: "if then you vote to convict them, you will do the just thing and you will buy your corn cheaper; if not, [it will be] more expensive".[5]
