Translation: The Sputterer; this man was a melic poet.[1] He was called Psekas ["Sputterer"] since he sprinkled [with spit] whomever he was talking with. There was also an Olympian[2] called Psekas because of this. This Antimachus resolved to propose a decree to forbid the satirizing of people by name. And on this account many of the poets did not come forward to take a chorus: and [it was] clear that many of the choristers starved. But some say that he, though a good poet, though a chorus leader, treated the chorus leaders contemptuously.
