An erineos is the fruit of the wild fig, which they hang up on the domesticated ones, so that the the gall-insects will be summoned from them onto the winter figs and prepare them to be ripened.[3] This is called erinazein ["to caprify"]. But others [say that] anerinastos stands for weak and unfruitful.
