Adler number: alpha,1808
Translated headword: to gush forth
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] to spout up. Eupolis in Demes [sc. uses the word].[1] The comic poets do everything like this (?)in jest.[2]

Greek Original:
*)anablustwnh=sai: to\ a)nablu/sai. *eu)/polis *dh/mois. pa/nta ta\ toiau=ta oi( kwmikoi\ poiou=si paro/ntes. kai\ *)anablustwnh=sai, a)nablasth=sai.
Notes:
The first part of this entry is also in Photius, where however the headword itself, an aorist infinitive, is not the Suda's a)nablustwnh=sai (repeated later in the entry) but a)nablusqwnh=sai.
[1] Eupolis fr. 105 Kock, now 119 K.-A.
[2] The transmitted participle paro/ntes at the end of this sentence makes no obvious sense. Theodoridis on Photius (Lexicon alpha1414) lists, without adopting, three suggested emendations, one of them pai/zontes.
