kappa 193 (q.v.). On this epigram, the farmer Sosicles's dedication to Demeter, see Gow and Page (vol. I, 302-303) and (vol. II, 336). Gow and Page note (vol. I, 303) that for this extract the
Anthologia Palatina transmits the indicative
fe/rei ("he brings"; cf.
kappa 193). However, in this entry the Suda follows (ibid.) the
Anthologia Palatina in reading the optative
fe/roi ("may he bring"), possibly indicating that Sosicles contemplates the consecration of his worn sickle as well (vol. II, 336).
