[The verb] a)leai/nein [comes] from us gathering together [a)olli/zesqai] during the days. And in Athens [the] Heliaia was a lawcourt, [named] from the gathering together of the men [involved]. But others [sc. derive the term] from a)leai/nein, which is to heat and to melt. Some, though, [derive it] from the exhalation which is produced from the mouth on to the fingers; this is called au)/ein ["to blow"] and a)/zein ["to sigh"] by imitation of the sound that [comes] out of the mouth.[2]
