A crack of [= in] the earth.[1]
Procopius [writes]: "and the Abigas river goes down out of the Aurasius [sc. mountain] into the plain, in which there are many ditches into which the Abigas splits off and goes underground and then appears again above ground. Since this happens over the majority of the plain, the inhabitants there are able to stop up the fissures with dirt mounds or to uncover them again so as to use this river's waters however they want."[2]
