Photius and other lexica. But both parts of the entry are unsatisfactory. Its first part--if, as seems probable, 'the Chersonnese' is the Thracian rather than the Tauric Chersonnese (see OCD4 Chersonnesus 1 and 2)--appears to be describing the Propontis, a meaning unattested elsewhere. And its second part--where 'the entire sea' might, but probably does not, mean 'the entire *Black* Sea'; cf.
epsilon 3606; and generally OCD4 under Euxine Sea--is incorrect as stated: the general sense is primary.
