[1] The Etymologicum Gudianum and the Etymologicum Magnum use this derivation for koili/a "belly" instead.
[2] That is, "worm" is derived from "limb" as its antonym (antiphrasis was normally used to explain euphemism). As ps.-Zonaras, the Etymologicum Gudianum and the Etymologicum Magnum s.v. skw/lhc explain, that is because "worms have no limbs, that is, bones". This kind of explanation is also known as the type lucus a non lucendo; cf. epsilon 1031 (end).
