Polybius fr. 159 Büttner-Wobst, recalling prominent figures (two Theban, two Spartan) of the classical age. For Epam(e)inondas (d. 371 BCE) and Pelopidas (d. 364) see
epsilon 1949. For Brasidas (d. 422) see
beta 519. For Kleombrotos (d. 371) see -- presumably --
kappa 1722. Büttner-Wobst notes (534) that Valesius (Henri de Valois 1603-1676) attributed this fragment to
Polybius. However, Büttner-Wobst does not accept the fragment as Polybian, gesturing instead (ibid.)--without an explicit citation--to Schweighäuser's having purported the fragment to have been drawn from speeches by certain sophists.
