On this verb -- usually (from Homer, Odyssey, onwards) bussodomeu/w, of which the lexicographers' bussodome/w is a variant -- see generally LSJ s.v. Despite the remainder of the present entry, it is related not to bu/ssos "flax/linen" (cf. beta 596) but to busso/s "depth" (cf. beta 598).
