The headword is the epic and Ionic form of a)/platos (see LSJ at web address 1), here in the masculine accusative singular or neuter nominative/accusative singular. Different glossing in Hesychius, but the same in the scholia to Hesiod, Theogony 315, from where it must be quoted (neuter, used adverbially).
This glossing implies a relation to pi/mplhmi "fill" rather than to pela/zw "approach."
