The headword is a rare poetic equivalent of the gloss (for which see alpha 1218). It is attested only in the nominative plural, as here, and all attestations appear to derive from the same source: an epigram attributed to Homer (Greek Anthology 9.448.1 and elsewhere) and referring to some Arcadians.
