Adler number: mu,41
Translated headword: kneading barley-cakes

[Meaning they] acting wantonly.
Greek Original:
*mazw=ntes: trufw=ntes.
Notes:
The headword, which must be quoted from somewhere but is attested only here, is present participle of maza/w, masculine nominative plural.
Hesychius mu56 glosses mazw=nta as to\n ma/ttonta ta\s ma/zas "one who forms barley-cakes". But the Suda's figurative application (for which cf. generally u(permaza=| at upsilon 321) stems from the use of maza in one of at least three sexual senses: female genitalia, anus (man's or woman's), phallus; consult J. Henderson, The Maculate Muse (New Haven 1975) 144 #175, 200-201 #446, 202 #452.
