Vetting Status: high
Translation:
son of Octavian;[1] emperor of [the] Romans. He managed his reign rashly and foolishly -- employing fearful cruelty and loathsome and lawless greed as well as shameful hedonism. For, while he refused all military authority, yet he greedily and eagerly brought war against his enemies through his subordinate commanders. And, as he was of bad character, he deceitfully prosecuted some of the allied kings and stole from their kingdoms. One of these, Archelaus,[2] was the king of the Cappadocians, and Tiberius summoned this man with wheedling and flattering words and then never let him return to his homeland but declared Cappadocia a province, and the largest of the cities there, which was then called Mazaka,[3] he instructed to take its name from him. This city, in fact, still in our day is named after Caesar. But nevertheless, when he had reached a great old age, he died.
