Or because, although he was an Olympic victor, he was poor, having nothing but a wild olive tree.[2] Or because he was an excellent aulos-player, but poor, [and] many times crowned; for which reason Cratinus said, "Eat and give favor to your stomach, so that hunger may hate you, but Konnas the wreath-lover will love you."[3] [Aristophanes] is saying that although [Konnas] won so many victories, he was never held in honor.
