Translation: This man was called benefactor and saviour amongst all the Greeks. For having conquered in battle Kleomenes, the king of the Lakedaimonians, he became himself the ruler of
Sparta and had the authority to do whatever he wished, both to the city and to the citizens; and he was so far from treating badly those who had become his subordinates that, on the contrary, he gave them back their ancestral constitution and their freedom, and became the source of the greatest benefits both public and private for the Lakedaimonians; and he was not only judged their benefactor at that time, but also when he died [was judged] their saviour.
