Translated headword: Meletos, Meletus
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
A frigid poet of tragedy. And Aristophanes [says]: "[of] drinking-songs of Meletos and of his Carian pipe-pieces." This man is he who indicted Socrates. He is satirized in comedy for being frigid in his poetry and for being wicked in his way of life. His Carian pipe-pieces and melodies were fit for a dirge.

Notes:
Aristophanes, Frogs 1302 (here slightly misquoted, see web address 1), with comment from the scholia there; again at sigma 642. See generally OCD4 Meletus(1).
Despite what is said here, this Meletos was the homonymous father of Socrates' accuser (mu 496).
