Greek Original:
*di/aulos: o( dista/dios to/pos. h)\ me/tron ph/xewn s1#. *di/aulos kai\ h( makra\ peri/odos. tou/tous dh\ tou\s makrou\s diau/lous poiei=sqai.
Notes:
See also delta 807.
[1] There seems to be an error (of transmission?) here: the second distance is only approx. a quarter of the first.
[2] A close approximation (the verb should be active poiei=n, not poiei=sqai) of Procopius, Secret History 12.21 (web address 1). As part of his commentary on the demonic nature of Justinian (cf. iota 446), Procopius describes an eyewitness report of the emperor's head vanishing while his body continued to wander to and fro in the palace; cf. Kaldellis (59).
